How to Add Signature and Form Fields to a Document
Fields are the interactive layer you place on top of your document: where signers sign, date, tick, and type. Placing them well is the difference between a 60-second signing experience and a confused phone call.
Adding the Fields
1. After adding recipients, click Next to open the Sign Request Editor.
2. Select a recipient from the list. Every field you place now belongs to them.
3. Drag fields from the palette onto the page:
• Signature: the main event.
• Initials: for per-page acknowledgment.
• Date: auto-fills at signing.
• Text: names, titles, ID numbers.
• Checkbox: consents and acknowledgments.
4. Fields are color-coded per recipient, so a two-signer contract shows two colors; you can verify the layout at a glance.
5. Switch recipients and repeat. Use the page navigator to cover every page that needs fields.
6. Click each field to toggle required vs. optional and adjust its size.
Placement Tips
• Put the signature field exactly where the signature line is printed. Signers trust documents that look prepared.
• Every signer should have at least one signature field; a signer with no fields is asked to review only.
• Resist over-collecting: each extra required field measurably slows completion.
