How to Switch to Inkfree from Another eSignature Platform
Moving from DocuSign, Dropbox Sign, PandaDoc, or another eSignature tool? Good news: there's very little to migrate, and most teams are fully switched within a single day. This guide covers what to bring over, what to leave behind, and the order to do it in.
Step 1: Export Your Contacts
1. In your current platform, find the contacts or address book section.
2. Export the list as a CSV file — every major platform supports this.
3. In Inkfree, go to Contacts → Import and upload the CSV (available on the Standard plan and above).
4. Map the columns (name, email, company) and confirm.
Your signers now autocomplete when you create requests, exactly as before.
Step 2: Rebuild Your Templates
Templates can't be transferred between platforms directly because each tool stores fields differently. Rebuilding is quick:
1. Download the source documents (PDF or Word) you use most.
2. In Inkfree, open Templates → Create Template and upload each one.
3. Add roles (e.g. "Candidate", "HR Manager") and drag the fields into place.
Tip: Start with your top three most-sent documents. You'll cover 80% of your volume on day one and can rebuild the long tail later.
Step 3: Send Your First Inkfree Request
Send a real document to a colleague as a test run. You'll see the signer experience end-to-end, and your colleague will confirm how easy it is — no account needed on their side.
