Document Retention and Storage Policy Explained

Where do completed documents live, and for how long? Short answer: in your account, indefinitely — Inkfree is designed to be your agreement archive. 

How Retention Works 

•  Completed requests keep everything together: the signed documents, the certificate of completion, and the full audit trail — one permanent record per agreement. 

•  Documents remain available for the life of your account on active plans. 

•  Download anytime — the record being safe in Inkfree doesn't stop you keeping copies in your own systems. 

If You Downgrade or Cancel 

Your documents are not deleted. Moving to the free plan keeps completed requests accessible; closing the account entirely is the only event that removes data — and you'll be prompted to export first. 

For Regulated Teams 

Policy may require copies in your own document management system. The rhythm that works: download the document + certificate on completion for major agreements, and rely on Inkfree as the always-available source of truth.
