How to Modify a Document After It's Already Been Sent
Jul 31, 20262 min read
What you can change after sending depends on what needs changing. Here's the honest map.
Changeable Without Voiding
• A recipient's email address — signer's menu on the request detail page. Typos happen; this is the fix.
• Expiration and reminder settings — adjustable from the request settings.
• Nudging people — reminders, anytime.
Requires Void and Resend
• Anything in the document content — terms, numbers, attachments, fields. Sent documents are immutable by design; a corrected version must go out as a new request.
The fast path: menu → Void request, then Duplicate request, fix, resend. Two minutes, clean audit trail on both requests.
The Principle
If a change would alter what a signer has seen or signed, it needs a fresh request. If it only affects routing or timing, you can change it in place.
