Why Can't I Open or Sign a Document?

Jul 31, 20262 min read

A signing link that won't cooperate has a short list of causes. Run through these top to bottom.

1. The Request Expired

Requests carry expiration dates; past the date, links go dead. Ask the sender to duplicate and resend — takes them a minute.

2. It's Not Your Turn Yet

In ordered signing, your link activates only when earlier levels finish. If the email said "you'll be notified when it's your turn", wait for the follow-up.

3. Verification Is Failing

•  OTP codes expire quickly — request a fresh one and enter it promptly.

•  Access code rejected? Confirm the exact code with the sender; codes are case-sensitive.

4. The Request Was Voided or Declined

The sender may have cancelled it, or another recipient declined (which puts everyone on hold). Check with the sender.

5. Browser Trouble

Try an incognito window or a different browser — extensions and stale cache cause most rendering oddities.

Still blocked? Reply to the sender, or contact Inkfree support quoting the email you received.
